Realistic Fiction Book-Summer 2013

Welcome to our new fourth graders! This year for our summer reading, instead of doing a written report, you have the option of participating in a discussion online. I hope this will let us all see and respond to each other's thoughts about the book.

As a reminder, you need to begin each comment with the book you read, and should write your first name only under "Comment As." You should then write down the number of the questions you are answering, followed by your answer. Later on, you should check back and respond to another student's comment.

For your realistic fiction book by Beverly Cleary or Judy Blume, you need to answer two of the following questions:

1. Who is the main character and how would you describe them? Are they like you at all-why or why not?

2. What do you think are the three most important things that happen in this book? Why are these the most important?

3. Do you think that this book could really happen in your school, family, or neighborhood? Why or why not?

4. If you could change something about the book, what would you change? (Do not write down "nothing" as your answer!)

10 comments:

  1. this is Natalie Rodriguez and I read Judy Blume Going, Going, Gone with the Pain and the Great One.

    1. The characters are the pain and the great one. The great one is a girl like me and she is the oldest. The pain one is my brother because they bother me like the pain bothers the great one.
    4. I will change the story by making the story one story instead of having separate stories.

This is Zethiana Vargas and I read Ramona and Father by Beverly Cleary.

    1. The main characters are Mr. Quimby and Ramona. I would describe Ramona and happy and caring. She is like me because she is mature in some things, and still immature in others. Mr.Quimby is like my dad because he has a job and he lives in a house like my dad.

    4. I would change that Mr. Quimby didn't lose his job. Its sad for someone to loose their job. Another place wanted Mr.Quimby to work with them.

    1. It is sad that Mr. Quimby looses his job so I agree with you

    2. I think some times it is not all bad to lose a job. Sometimes it's good to change to a different job and it is even better when you get a better job than before.

    3. I would change that part too

  3. You girls both chose great books to read! Don't forget to comment on each other's response, too. Even if you didn't read the same book, you can talk about whether brothers are really a pain, losing a job, or what it means to be mature or immature.

  4. I am Gabriel Perez and the book I read was Romana the Brave.

    1. The main charecter in this story is Romana. Romana is like me beacause she is kind, helpful, and caring.

    2. I think that the three most imortant things that happened in the story was the new room that Romona gets, the part of the story where Ramona makes her owl for parents night, and the part when Ramona faces the dog and runs away.

  6. I am Samuel Aguirre and the book I read Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary.

    1. The main character is Leigh. Leigh is smart and outgoing. I think I am like Leigh because I pay attention in class and I make friends easily.

    3. I think that this book could happen to me because I'm in school, read books and would be mad if someone stole my lunch.
